Canadian Trash Update
In a September 9, 2004 Associated Press article about Canadian trash shipments to Michigan, Toronto Mayor David Miller stated, “There is a plan B. The (waste hauling) company is obliged to find us alternative landfills. They have commercial arrangements with other landfill operators.” Unfortunately, because of the EPA’s inaction on stopping Canadian trash, Toronto has never been forced to switch their trash disposal to these non-Michigan landfills. Senator Stabenow Leads Effort to Fully Fund Homeland Security
Despite the fact that a blue-ribbon panel warned more than a year ago that the United States is not providing adequate resources to local emergency responders, the Senate today failed to pass an amendment to the Homeland Security Appropriations bill, authored by Senators Debbie Stabenow and Christopher Dodd (D-CT), that would implement the panel’s recommendations. Senator Stabenow Introduces Legislation to Block Medicare Premium Increase
