About GSA
Heartland (6) Regional Emergency Preparedness

As security planning continues to be a national priority, it is necessary for agencies to always be prepared for worst-case scenarios.   As part of a complete emergency plan, every agency must have an alternate site designated, as stated by Federal Preparedness Circular (FPC) 67.

GSA is currently working with agencies to proactively secure alternate facilities to ensure they can carry out mission-critical operations at any time, in any situation.

GSA assists agencies with the process of securing alternate facilities so that its customers can focus on what is important:   serving the taxpayer.

In addition, the GSA Heartland Region serves as the co-chair of the KC-Regional Continuity of Operations (COOP) Working Group (KC-RCWG).   Participation in this group is open to every Executive Branch department and agency in the region.  The activities of this group are coordinated with and through the Kansas City Federal Executive Board, and works to promote the development of COOP plans to enhance our federal partners’ overall emergency preparedness for a wide range of potential emergencies.
