Heartland (6) Community Outreach in the Heartland

The Missing Kids Website, created and maintained in the Heartland Region, is a clearing house for information to federal agencies with regard to the executive memorandum and guidance on how to post the missing child and/or person notices. Ten notices are published each month as well as instructions for disseminating the notices.

Please assist in this important program which may lead to the reunion of lost children and their families. If even one child is located then the common sense initiative is well worth it.

Phil Vaughn and Brad Scott, Co-Chairs 2003 Heartland CFCThe Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) is strongly supported in The Heartland Region each year. Federal employees and military personnel throughout the nation raise millions of dollars through the CFC that benefits thousands of non-profit charities.

The Heartland Region proudly supported the 2003 Heartland Combined Federal Campaign by offering Brad Scott, regional administrator, as a co-chair.

YouthFriends was introduced in the Kansas City area in 1995 by the Greater Kansas City YMCA and the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation. The Heartland Region is one of 94 employers in the Greater Kansas City Area who are committed to supporting young people in schools through the YouthFriends Program.

The Heartland Region partners with Center Elementary. Associates work with students one hour a week, usually at lunchtime. Some students have specific needs, like working on math skills. Others just need a new friend.

The Heartland Region is proud to have two associates who have been participating in the program since 1995.

How do you spell turkey?

Brad Scott, Harvestors CampaignGSA’s Regional Administrator Brad Scott, knows all too well how to spell it. He challenged his associates last year to give their all to Harvesters, a Kansas City based food pantry, and he would dress like a turkey.

Contributions exceed 1,800 lbs. of food and Brad donned a turkey costume for photo ops with associates and to make the presentation to Harvesters. This year’s food drive for Harvesters is in the planning stages and expectations are for another successful drive.
