Biotechnology Process Engineering Research Center

Daniel I. Wang, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, EEC-9402065

The Biotechnology Process Engineering Center at MIT (EEC-9402065) operates primarily within approximately 7,000 square feet of dedicated laboratory space on the MIT campus with facilities including cell culture, bioreactors, flow cytometry, mass spectrometry, molecular chromatography, fluorescence and multi-photon microscopy, quantitative PCR, and DNA sequence analysis. The amount of instrumentation investment can be estimated to be above $4M. Facilities are available to collaborating investigators or investigators with special needs on a limited, case-by-case basis. Associated laboratories focusing on stem cell biotechnology and animal experimentation in hematopoeitic and liver pathologies operate at the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research, the Brown University Liver Center, and the University of Toronto Institute for Biomaterials & Biomedical Engineering.
