A Biomaterials Company

Dr. Buddy Ratner, University of Washington, EEC-9529161

The University of Washington Engineered Biomaterials ERC (UWEB) has generated a startup company, Asemblon, Inc. This company was incorporated in Fall 2001, based upon the use of self-assembled monolayer (SAM) technology invented by Dr. Buddy Ratner, UWEB Center Director. At this early juncture, Asemblon is negotiating with the University of Washington to become a UWEB member and to license intellectual property stemming directly from Dr. Ratner's UWEB research. Application areas include biomaterials coatings, microelectronics, nanowires and chips for proteomic, cellomic, and genomic research.
