Amend
A passport may be amended at the request of the bearer to show a married
name or a legal change of name. An application
for amendment/extension of passport (DS-19) is used for any amendments.
Legal or formal documentation supporting any amendment must be presented.
The online version of this form includes instructions on the back side
written for use in the U.S. which do not apply to your application in
Seoul.
There is no fee for this service. Amendments must be done in person at
the Embassy.
Extend
Limited validity passports issued on an emergency basis at embassies and
consulates abroad are normally limited to a year and may not be extended.
The passports must be exchanged for a full validity passport at a passport
agency in the U.S. or an embassy or consulate overseas. Full validity
passports are generally issued for no additional fee during the one-year
validity of the emergency passport.
There are other circumstances when a passport may be limited. Americans
who are unable to present the necessary documentary proof of citizenship
or identity maybe issued limited validity passports. A case by case examination
must be made by the passport section of the Embassy before determining
whether a passport can be extended. Often the passport can be extended
only after authorization is received from the Department of State in Washington,
D.C. Please download and complete an application

Offical and no-fee regular passports issued for less than five years may
be extended upon presentation of orders indicating a new permanent change

Add Pages
We can also add pages to your existing passport if your travels have filled
up the original book. Please download and complete an application
for amendment/extension of passport (DS-19).
There is no fee for this service. Adding pages can be done without your
making a trip to the Embassy. Processing time is only about three working
days. Here's how to get your passport to us to add pages:
You may add several additional page inserts to the same passport; there
is no limit to the number. If the passport begins to become unwieldy with
numerous extra page inserts you can renew your
passport in advance of the expiration date. All the normal fees and
forms are required for a passport renewal.
By Courier (non-APO addresses only)
Two courier companies provide round-trip service, bringing your application
for additional pages to us, and then delivering your passport with additional
pages back to your door. The couriers also provide on-line
tracking of your passport to and from the Embassy.

By Mail
You may only send your application by mail through the APO military postal
system. We strongly encourage you to send the application registered APO.
Please include a self-addressed envelope with your name and full APO address
in order for us to return your passport with additional pages. Note that
registered APO can take as long as two weeks each way; please plan your
travel accordingly.

Drop Off
You or someone bearing a letter singed you designating the person to request additional
pages to your passport can drop off your materials at the Embassy on the behalf during
normal business hours (M, T, TH and F, 9:30-11:30 and 1:30-3:30). We are
closed Wednesdays and on both U.S. and Korean
holidays.
Same day, while-you-wait service for adding pages is available only when
our other duties allow for it. Please plan to spend two or more hours
waiting on busy days.
How to Get Your New Passport Returned to You
By courier (non-APO addresses only)
The easiest way to have your passport with additional pages returned to
you is by courier, using the two-way system described above.
This method means that you never need visit the Embassy at all to have
additional pages added to your passport. The couriers also provide on-line
tracking of your passport to and from the Embassy.
You can also take advantage of the courier system for a one-way trip,
dropping off your application materials (or asking a friend, employee
or agent to do so) and filling out a one-way courier delivery slip available
in our lobby. We'll add the additional pages to your passport and use
the delivery slip to return your passport to you. The courier company
will charge you by region. Both companies charge the same prices. For
Seoul, the cost is W6,000. For the Kyonggi-do area, W8,000. For southern
Korea (Pusan) the cost is W10,000. Delivery charges are paid COD. The
courier companies cannot deliver to APO addresses.
By Mail (APO addresses only)
Please include a self-addressed envelope with your name and full APO address
in order for us to return your passport with the additional pages. Note
that registered APO can take as long as two weeks each way; please plan
accordingly to accomodate your travel plans.
Pick up in Person
Pick up must be in person by the passport holder or by a person bearing
a letter signed by the passport holder, designating the person to pick
up the passport. Pick up time is Tuesdays betwwen 3:30 and 4:30 p.m.
