The National Occupational Injury
Research Symposium (NOIRS), which brings together occupational injury
researchers and practitioners to present and discuss their findings,
methods, and practices, is the only meeting of its kind conducted
in the United States.
The first NOIRS was held in October
1997 in Morgantown, West Virginia. NOIRS 2000 convened in Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania in October 2000. The third symposium (NOIRS 2003) was
held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on October 28-30, 2003.

IMPORTANT NOTICE
In support of the XVIIth World Congress on Safety and Health at
Work (scheduled for September 18-22, 2005 in Orlando, Florida),
NIOSH will not be convening the NOIRS in 2006. NIOSH is serving
on the National Organizing Committee for the XVIIth World Congress,
and is providing input to the themes, programs, and presentations
for this upcoming conference. We encourage all NOIRS attendees to
take advantage of this international opportunity to present and
exchange occupational injury research by participating in the XVIIth
World Congress. For more information on the World Congress, visit
the conference website at: http://www.safety2005.org/.
The 4th National Occupational Injury Research Symposium is tentatively
planned for October, 2008.
