Justice for Schools is the Department of Justice's program to assist schools in building computer infrastructure. The program is administered by the Justice Management Division's Facilities and Administrative Services Staff, and covers the Department's Offices, Boards and Divisions. Executive Order 12999, Educational Technology: Ensuring Opportunity for All Children in the Next Century directs Federal agencies to transfer excess computers to schools and nonprofit educational organizations:
The computers used in Department of Justice offices throughout the United States are periodically replaced, resulting in excess equipment that may be available for transfer to schools and non-profit educational organizations. Instructions for requesting computers can be found in the attached document, Procedures for Schools and Non-Profit Organizations to Obtain Excess Computer Equipment. Schools and non-profit organizations should also register their computer needs at the General Service Administration's Computers for Learning web site.
