Novel Thermostable ALPHA-L-Arabinofuranosidase from Aureobasidium Pullulans

Technology Description:

The invention relates to a new a-L-arabinofuranosidase enzyme which is highly thermostable, and is effective for hydrolysis of arabinofuranosyl residues from L-arabinose containing polysaccharides and hemicelluloses. Examples of hemicelluloses materials, which may be treated, include biomass such as agriculture residues, corn fiber, wood, municipal solid wastes, herbaceous crops, and waste from pulp and paper industry. The enzyme is produced by color variant Aureibasuduyn pullulans strain NRRL Y-21792. This a-L-arabinofuranosidase may be used in conjunction with xylanolytic enzymes for the treatment of hemicellulosic materials to produce fermentable sugars, particularly xylose and L-arabinose, delignification of pulp, treatment of plant materials for use as animal feeds, clarification and thinning of juices, hydrolysis of grape monoterpenyl glycosides during wine fermentation.
