Workgroups will be formed to facilitate accomplishment of various Board objectives. Current workgroups include: Performance-based measurement systems (PBMS) -- develop and test a position paper regarding the performance based methods system for sampling and analyses National Environmental Methods Index (NEMI) -- developing an on-line compendium of field and laboratory methods that is designed to aid in methods selection Nutrients -- will develop a position paper on sampling, preservation, and analyses methods and criteria for nutrients Laboratory Accreditation and Field Certification -- develop a position paper on environmental monitoring lab and field accreditation and work with NELAC to insure adequate implementation Biology and Microbiology -- assure that other workgroup efforts adequately address field and lab biological and microbiological methods Water-Quality Data Elements -- develop and recommend a "core" set of data elements for reporting water-quality monitoring results Outreach -- developing outreach products and an approach to Board product dissemination
