Commander Don Hagen, MSC, USN 

Commander Hagen attended the University of Minnesota receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in biology with chemistry minor in 1984 and a Masters degree in Industrial Hygiene in 1985. He is a diplomate of the American Academy of Industrial Hygiene, member of the American Industrial Hygiene Association, member of the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists, member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and former president of the Naval Industrial Hygiene Association. 

Commander Hagen entered military service in 1977 with the US Army as a Clinical Medicine specialist assigned to 2d Battalion, 81st Armor, 1st Armor Division, located in Erlangen, West Germany. In September 1985 he entered Naval service and was assigned to Naval Environmental and Preventive Medicine Unit Five, San Diego as a field industrial hygienist. From October 1988 to November 1990 he served in USS ACADIA (AD 42) as the Safety and Environmental Officer. From November 1990 to September 1993 he was assigned to Board of Inspection and Survey, Pacific (Hull/Deck/DC) where he was responsible for multiple areas of ship inspection, including: medical material readiness, preventive medicine, safety, environmental systems, habitability, and damage control. 

From September 1993 to September 1996 he was the Force Industrial Hygienist (N454) for Commander, Naval Air Force, Pacific providing policy and advisement for occupational health, safety, and specific environmental programs throughout the Pacific and Indian oceans, Antarctica, and the Western United States. His next tour was as the Director of Occupational Health and Preventive Medicine, US Naval Hospital, Yokosuka, Japan from October 1996 to September 1999 providing Industrial Hygiene, Preventive Medicine, Occupational Medicine, Health Promotion, and Fleet Audiology services throughout Japan and Chinhae, Korea. From September 1999 to October 2002 he was the Assistant Branch Head for Safety and Occupational Health (N454E) under the Director of Environmental, Occupational Safety and Health (N45) for the Chief of Naval Operations. 

His military decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with gold star, Navy Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, and various other service decorations.
