Goals and Objectives |
The goals of the Conference are to
provide information that will help participants provide comprehensive
immunization coverage for all age groups and explore innovative
strategies for developing programs, policy, and research to promote
immunization coverage for all age groups. The Conference Education
Program Objective is: To bring together a wide variety of local,
state, federal, and private-sector immunization partners to explore
science, policy, education, and planning issues related to immunization
in general and vaccine-preventable disease.
During three and a half days of plenary
sessions and workshops, many topics were discussed, including:

The 39th National Immunization Conference
will focus on six topic-specific tracks, with multiple workshop
and plenary sessions offered for each track. In order to be considered
for presentation at the conference, an abstract must focus
on a subject that falls under one of the topics being highlighted
this year. As the first step of the abstract submission process,
you will be asked to select the track for which you would like your
abstract to be considered. The topics for this year's tracks are
the following:
- Adult Immunization
- Epidemiology
(including surveillance, assessment, evaluation, CASA, NIS, etc.)
- Health
Communications (including education, health promotion,
media, community outreach, etc.)
- Immunization Registries
- Programmatic
Issues (including program operations, policy,
funding, VFC, AFIX, managed care, etc.)
- Vaccine Safety
The deadline to
submit abstracts for the 39th National Immunization Conference is
November 19, 2004.

The Conference Planning Team invites
you to reserve booth space
for your Non-Profit or Not-For-Profit exhibit using
our online exhibit registration
system. Government and University groups are also invited
to participate in this exhibit.
The deadline to
reserve non-profit or not-for-profit exhibit booth space is January
28, 2005.
If you represent a commercial
vendor, you might be interested in exhibiting in the separate-but-concurrent
commercial exhibit which will be hosted by the National
Foundation for Infectious Diseases (NFID) and held in conjunction
with the National Immunization Conference at the conference hotel.

Ad Hoc
Meeting Space Request |
Is your work group spread out around
the country? Do you have a hard time getting together and/or has
it been a while since you met face-to-face?
Subject to certain criteria, the
Conference Planning Team is pleased to offer the opportunity for
informal, small group meetings in meeting rooms at the conference
hotel during non-conference hours so that you can re-connect with
your colleagues.
The deadline to
request ad hoc meeting space is February
25, 2005.

Computer-Based
Application Demonstration |
The Conference Planning Team is pleased
to offer the opportunity to present live demonstrations of Computer-Based
Applications that are useful to individuals and organizations working
in the field of immunization.
Examples of computer-based applications
include: Immunization education or training programs for providers,
students, patients, or the general public; an Internet site providing
immunization information and resources; an Immunization Program
management or tracking tool; a Registry application; or a reminder/recall
program.
The deadline to
apply to give a computer-based application demonstration is November
19, 2004.

A block of rooms has been set aside
for conference attendees at the prevailing FY2005 Federal Government
per diem room rate at the time of the conference, plus applicable
taxes.
**Special
note about the conference room rate: The Federal
Government per diem lodging rate is set by the General Services
Administration, and is subject to change at any time without notice.
You will be charged the current per diem rate at the time of the
conference, regardless of what the rate was at the time you made
your reservation. As of October 21, 2004, the per diem
rate in the Washington, DC area is $153 per night.
The cutoff date for making reservations
in the specially-negotiated block of rooms for the conference is
February 26, 2005.
