Climate Variability and Predictability (CLIVAR) Description The research goals of CLIVAR are to describe and understand the physical processes responsible for climate variability and predictability on time scales ranging from seasonal to centennial, and to extend the range and accuracy of seasonal to interannual climate prediction through development of global coupled models. In order to meet these objectives, CLIVAR is organized around three science thrusts to (1) study climate variability and predictability from seasons to years, (2) study decadal to centennial climate variability, and (3) model and detect anthropogenic climate change. Target Dates and Deadlines Target dates for proposal submission are 15 February and 15 August. In addition, a joint NSF-NOAA Climate Process and Modeling Team (CPT) Research Opportunity announcement is now available through the program announcement link below. The deadline for letters of intent is March 31, 2003. Full proposal deadline is May 27, 2003.
