Training

Taking into consideration the realities of the host country's local business environment, available resources and human capacity, NREL's training activities help build the capacity of existing institutions and improve the quality of locally available training and technical information. Training topics range from renewable energy for policy makers and energy planners to rural electrification strategies for managers and engineers. Modules include renewable energy technologies and resource assessment, software tools for technology options analysis, hybrid system design and monitoring, and policy design and implementation. NREL training is a vehicle for the transmission not only of NREL's technical expertise in the area of renewable energy and energy efficiency but also its extensive experience working with governments on policy development and implementation. The training modules can be easily adapted to a range of local conditions and audiences.

Workshops

NREL collaborates with international and national organizations to organize and facilitate workshops on a wide variety of topics. Workshops include:

World Renewable Energy Congress (WREC)

The world's premier forum for networking on renewable energy will be held in Denver, Colorado USA, August 29 through September 3, 2004. NREL's International Program is organizing several sessions during WREC oriented specifically toward international markets and renewable applications for sustainable rural development.

Village Power Conference Proceedings

Proceedings from the past four Village Power Conferences are available. The World Bank hosted Village Power 2000 in Washington, D.C., USA, December 2000. Following the conference, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory hosted a study tour in Golden, Colorado, USA. Village Power 2000 was covered online with daily updates, photos, and email updates.
