Evaluation Criteria for Links |

The AIDSinfo staff evaluates all suggested links using the following criteria: 1. Is the recommended web site an official government-owned or supported web site? 2. Does the recommended web site provide official government information or services? 3. Does the recommended web site complement existing information on the AIDSinfo web site? 4. Is the recommended web site accessible and applicable to a wide audience? 5. Is the recommended web site's content relevant, useful, and authoritative for users? 6. Does the recommended web site's information appear to be accurate and current? 7. Is the recommended web site's approach to the privacy of personal information consistent with the AIDSinfo privacy and security policies? 8. Is the recommended web site user-friendly? 9. Does the recommended web site meet one or more of the following "highly desirable" criteria? It provides credible, critically important information not found on government web sites. The source of the content is established, respected and dependable. A list of advisory board members or consultants is published on the site. It contains special features such as graphics/diagrams or other unique information. Links to Government Web Sites AIDSinfo can add a link to any government web site that is pertinent and relevant to the mission of AIDSinfo. AIDSinfo can also add a link to quasi-government agencies and web sites created by public sector/private sector partnerships; state and local government sites; and some government-sponsored web sites. Links to Non-Government Web Sites AIDSinfo links to web sites that are not government-owned or government-sponsored if the web site meets the evaluation criteria. Prohibitions AIDSinfo will not link to any web site that actively promotes the sale of any product or service for the sole benefit of making a profit. In addition, AIDSinfo reserves the right to deny or remove any link that contains misleading information or unsubstantiated claims, or is determined to be in conflict with AIDSinfo mission or policies. Disclaimer of Endorsement The information posted on the AIDSinfo web site includes links to information created and maintained by other public and/or private organizations. AIDSinfo provides these links solely for our users' information and convenience. When users select a link to an outside web site, they are leaving the AIDSinfo web site and are subject to the privacy and security policies of the owners/sponsors of the outside web site. AIDSinfo does not control or guarantee the accuracy, relevance, timeliness, or completeness of information contained on a linked web site. AIDSinfo does not endorse the organizations sponsoring linked web sites, nor do we endorse the views they express or the information/services they offer. AIDSinfo cannot authorize the use of copyrighted materials contained in linked web sites. Users must request such authorization from the sponsor of the linked web site. AIDSinfo is not responsible for transmissions users receive from linked web sites. AIDSinfo does not guarantee that outside web sites comply with Section 508 (Accessibility Requirements) of the Rehabilitation Act.
