Older Americans Month - May 2004

Program Champions

The U.S. Administration on Aging (AoA) is pleased to introduce the Older Americans Month “Aging Well, Living Well” Program Champion initiative. During the month of May, AoA is spotlighting programs in local communities around this country that assist older Americans in their quest to age and live well.

A different program is highlighted each business day in May. Programs selected focus on a variety of “Aging Well, Living Well” target areas including healthy aging, active engagement, and access to services just to name a few. Several of the programs are funded through the Older Americans Act and support key initiatives of AoA.

The “Aging Well, Living Well” Program Champions are only a representative sample of the wonderful work being done around the country to assist and engage older Americans. The programs were selected from nominations submitted by Area Agencies on Aging from around the country and AoA program experts.

We hope that the programs chosen as champions will be recognized as models for replication and possibly serve as beacons for new ideas and approaches.
