USGS 01595500 NORTH BRANCH POTOMAC RIVER AT KITZMILLER, MD

STATION.--01595500 N B POTOMAC R AT KITZMILLER, MD
LOCATION.-- Lat 39°23'38.0", long 79°10'54.1", Garrett County, Hydrologic Unit 02070002,
   on left bank 0.6 mi downstream from bridge on State Highway 38 in Kitzmiller, 1.5 mi downstream
   from Wolfden Run, and at mile 68.9.
DRAINAGE AREA.--225 mi2
PERIOD OF RECORD.--October 1949 to current year.
GAGE.--Water-stage recorder.  Datum of gage is 1,572.26 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum
   of 1929.  Prior to Oct. 15, 1954, at site 0.3 mi upstream at datum 7.58 ft higher. Oct. 15, 1954,
   to Nov. 20, 1955, nonrecording gage at bridge 0.5 mi upstream at datum 21.51 ft higher. Since
   Oct. 1, 1985, operated as a crest-stage partial-record station.
REMARKS.--Regulation of low flow by Stony River Reservoir, 30 mi upstream from station.
   U.S. Army Corps of Engineers satellite collection platform at station. Upper Potomac River Commission
   gage-height telemeter at station.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD.--Maximum discharge, 46,000 ft3/s, Nov. 4, 1985,
   gage height, 14.77 ft, present site and datum; minimum discharge, 4.6 ft3/s, Oct. 3-7, 1953,
   gage height 1.45 ft, site and datum then in use.
COOPERATION.--Funding for the operation of this station is provided by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers,
   and the U.S. Geological Survey.
