Quotable Quotes . . . “As a way of communicating with the special people in our lives during the holiday season, we rely on the tradition of sending holiday cards. The cards may carry seasonal messages inside, but the season’s greetings really begin on the outside of the envelope.” — USPS Chicago District Manager Akinyinka Akinyele on this year’s Kwanzaa stamps
BULKING UP. The 21 USPS bulk mail centers (BMCs) are posting a strong performance — delivering billions of parcels annually. Parcel service for BMCs is measured by scanning Delivery Confirmation barcodes on packages and tracking those delivered within two days. Scanning Parcel Select mail has taken on new importance, as more and more customers take advantage of USPS tracking services. For a listing of bulk mail facilities, see USPS BMC Office Information.
MINNEAPOLIS POSTMASTER. USPS has named Anthony Williams to Postmaster of Minneapolis, MN. Williams began his career 24 years ago as a letter carrier and previously served for three years as St. Paul, MN, Postmaster.
FINDING THE MISSING. The Wichita, KS, Eagle reports that the “America’s Looking for its Missing Children” program has helped return 134 children to their families. The program was launched in 1985 by the U.S. Postal Service, ADVO and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. Each week, USPS delivers up to 85 million missing child cards to homes nationwide.
