ABSTRACT: FOIA2 tracks the status of requests received under the FOIA by the office of Administration and FOIA. It also contains information about completed FOIA requests received at other postal facilities. The information includes the disposition of the requests (such as the number of times information was withheld in full or in part, granted, etc.); the exemptions relied upon to withhold information; the median number of days to process the requests; the resources used; and other information required to be reported annually by the FOIA.

PURPOSE: The Electronic FOIA Amendments of 1996 significantly increased the amount of information agencies are required to report annually on their FOIA activities. FOIA2 captures nationally the information needed for annual reporting.

ACCESS CONSTRAINTS: Access to information within FOIA2 is limited to persons having an official need within the office of Administration and FOIA and the Inspection Service’s FOIA processing unit.

USE CONSTRAINTS: Information within FOIA2 has been evaluated in the areas of administrative security; physical security; contingency planning and backup; software controls; operating systems access and controls; and communication security. The security of the system as evaluated is adequate to limit access and use by the office of Administration and FOIA and the Inspection Service’s FOIA processing unit.

AGENCY PROGRAM: FOIA2 supports the Postal Service’s release of information program pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act and the Privacy Act.

ABSTRACT: FIOATS contains information and data about Freedom of Information Act requests for records under the jurisdiction of the Inspection Service.

PURPOSE: FIOATS is used to acknowledge, track, monitor and respond to Freedom of Information Act requests.

ACCESS CONSTRAINTS: All records are protected from unauthorized access through appropriate administrative, physical, and technical safeguards. These safeguards include restricting access to those with a need to know to perform their official duties, using locks and alarm devices, passwords and/or encrypting data communications.

USE CONSTRAINTS: Users are restricted to only those privileges necessary to perform assigned tasks.

AGENCY PROGRAM: FIOATS supports the Office of Counsel in the Office of the Chief Postal Inspector.

SOURCES OF DATA: FIOATS data is entered by designated Inspection Service employees.
