What is a mailing permit imprint? How does it benefit your business?

Permit Imprints are the most popular way to pay for postage, especially for high volume mailings. Instead of using precancelled stamps or a postage meter, the mailer prints postage information in the upper right corner of the mailpiece. This postage block is called a permit imprint.

To use your permit imprint, you set up a postage account at the Post Office where you’ll be depositing your mail. When you bring your mailing to the Post Office, the total postage is deducted from your account. It’s like having a checking account at the Post Office.

What Classes of Mail can you send with your Mailing Permit Imprint?

You can use a Permit Imprint with many types of mail. Determine the service that is best for your mailing, then design and imprint for that class of mail using your permit number.

Permit Imprints can be used to pay for:
First-Class Mail Postage
Standard Mail Postage
Package Services Postage
Extra Services

What does it cost, and how do I pay?

Annual Fee

The annual mailing fee of $150 allows you to mail bulk mailings in one class of mail from one Post Office for one year. This fee is separate from application fees and postage.

Payments
Paying for Permit Imprint postage and service fees is easy and convenient with the Advance Deposit Account.

Your Permit Imprint Advance Deposit Account works much like a checking account. Whenever you send a mailing, charges are deducted directly from your account.

Adding funds to your account is also simple. You can pay the fee via cash or check at your local Post Office or Business Mail Entry Unit.
