A Word from Sandia

"One of the major changes in Sandia's operating philosophy has been to rely increasingly on partnerships to accomplish our mission objectives. We have formed strong alliances with major universities, industries, and other laboratories. Since 1993, when Lockheed Martin Corporation became our operating contractor, we have made a concerted effort to partner within the communities where we live and work. This has meant a greater participation by Sandia personnel serving on community boards, chambers of commerce, service clubs, and museum foundations; we also have expanded the grassroots participation of our staff in volunteer efforts for community charities. We all 'win' from these efforts. At Sandia, we are committed to being active members of our communities - on and off the job."

- C. Paul Robinson,
President and Laboratories Director

"We, at Sandia, take great pride in being part of our community. We cherish the beautiful area in which we live and the wonderful people, our neighbors and friends. The people of Sandia National Laboratories have a long tradition of service in the community. Since 1993, with support and encouragement from Lockheed Martin Corporation, our service and partnerships in the community have increased dramatically. We benefit tremendously from our partners and friends in our community, and believe we are able to give back through our commitment and service."

- Joan Woodard,
Executive Vice President and Deputy Director

"As a good neighbor and corporate citizen, Sandia National Laboratories endeavors to be responsible and responsive to the needs of our communities. We have a great deal of pride in our outreach and partnership efforts. Through these programs, we foster the development of mutual understanding and trust through effective communications and meaningful cooperation. Our employees and families are part of the community fabric as volunteers, leaders, parents, and children. Our strength is our people-people who care about their communities, respect its cultures, and value its quality of life. Thank you for working with us to build effective partnerships and making our communities a better place to live for all. It is in that spirit that we present this information."

- Michael D. DeWitte,
Senior Manager, Corporate Outreach and Partnerships
