Classroom Follow Up
Caption:
Fourth grade teacher and students at the Glenallen Elementary School in Silver Spring, Maryland, discuss the microorganisms they found while working in the Gatorville Outdoor Classroom, located adjacent to the school. The students and their teacher Kristi Cameron, collaborated to build Gatorville with a small grant from the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. The project won Cameron a Presidential Award for Mathematics and Science Teaching in 2001, which is administered in part by the National Science Foundation.
