PRIVACY AND SECURITY NOTICE

  1. This World Wide Web (WWW) site is provided as a public service by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Portland District, and the Portland District Information Management Office.
  2. Information presented on this WWW site is considered public information and may be distributed or copied. Use of appropriate byline/photo/image credits is requested.
  3. Privacy Advisory(PA): If personally-identifying information (including, but not limited to, name, e-mail or postal address, telephone number, or other information which can be used to identify an individual) is solicited by this Web site (i.e. collected as part of an email feedback/comments or request for information feature on this Web site), this information is not maintained in a Privacy Act system of records. Personally-identifying information is being solicited only so that the Portland District can provide a response as requested by the individual. All personally-identifying information will be destroyed after the response the individual is seeking has been forwarded to them.
  4. For site management, information is collected for statistical purposes. This government computer system uses industry-standard software to create summary statistics, which are used for such things as assessing what information is of most and least interest, determining technical design specifications, and identifying system performance or problem areas.
  5. For site security purposes and to ensure that this service remains available to all users, these government computer systems employs software programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage.
  6. Except for authorized law enforcement investigations, no other attempts are made to identify individual users or their usage habits. Raw data logs are used for no other purposes and are scheduled for regular destruction in accordance with Modern Army Record Keeping System (MARKS). All data collection activities are in strict accordance with Department of Defense Directive 5240.1 (reference (p)).
  7. Unauthorized attempts to upload information or change information on these services are strictly prohibited and may be punishable under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1987 and the National Information Infrastructure Protection Act.
