(12/31/2003) ANNOUNCEMENT OF RFA to Award Cooperative Agreement to Manage Professional Student Intern Program - Under CFDA 66.607, Training and Fellowship Opportunities at the Environmental Protection Agency, the Office of Environmental Justice, Environmental Protection Agency, is seeking a cooperative agreement with a non-profit, non-governmental, 501(c)(3) organization to conduct an Environmental Professional Student Intern Program (Intern Program) to provide-on-the-job training for graduate and undergraduate students interested in careers in the environmental area.
(12/31/2003) EPA Cites Alcoa Subsidiary for Hazardous Waste Violations - NEW YORK, N.Y. -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced today that it has cited Howmet Corporation, a Dover, New Jersey subsidiary of Alcoa Inc., for violating numerous hazardous waste regulations.

Since EPA's Office of Environmental Justice initiated this program in 2000, over 100 diverse students have participated in environmental justice projects ranging from health education to outreach and advocacy.

(12/30/2003) U.S. EPA orders Wickenburg water systems to correct lead problem - SAN FRANCISCO -- Last week the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency ordered two public water systems in Wickenburg, Ariz. to determine how lead contaminated their drinking water and correct the problem, as required by the Safe Drinking Water Act.

(12/17/2003) Real Estate Developer Settles Wetlands Violation in Meadville, Pa. - PHILADELPHIA -- Meadville Real Estate L.P. and its partners Meadville Associates, Inc., George Saad and George Maier have settled a complaint by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency over the unpermitted filling of protected wetlands in Meadville, Crawford Co., Pa.
(12/17/2003) US EPA orders Seven-Up to comply with storm water discharge requirements - LOS ANGELES -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is ordering the Seven-Up/RC Bottling Company of Southern California, Inc. to immediately comply with the federal Clean Water Act and seek stormwater permits from California, which administers the Clean Water Act permit program in the state.
