TIMS 1.1 TRAINING COURSES

Introduction to TIMS

Description
A two-day course for new and inexperienced TIMS users. It includes an overview of all TIMS modules focusing heavily on the Client, Surveillance and Patient Management modules. This course will also cover the new medications window. An overview of the TIMS surveillance process, including data management tips, will also be incorporated within this session.
Target Audience
Data entry personnel and others who use or will use TIMS on a regular basis.
Pre-Requisite
Windows 95/98 and mouse competency.

TIMS Patient Management and Program Evaluation

Description
A two-day course for experienced TIMS users. It includes data entry for the Client, Patient Management and Program Evaluation modules, training for ad hoc query, export, data transfer and other functionalities. This course will also cover the new medication window, client list filtering, the new contact report, deletion of client records. An overview of the TIMS Program Evaluation transfer process will also be incorporated within this session.
Target Audience
Data entry personnel and others who use or will use TIMS regularly to input and retrieve Patient Management, and Program Evaluation data.
Pre-Requisite
TIMS 101 or frequent use of TIMS.

TIMS Surveillance Data Management

Description
A two-day course for experienced TIMS users. It focuses on all the facets of TIMS surveillance data entry, canned reports, ad hoc query, frequency reports, data transfer and transmission. This course will also cover the surveillance data transfer process, partial data reset, new transfer and acknowledgment reports, and deletion of client records as it relates to transmission. An overview of the entire TIMS surveillance process will also be incorporated within this session.
Target Audience
Personnel responsible for transmission of TIMS data and maintaining data synchronization within the reporting area and between the reporting area and CDC.
Pre-Requisite
TIMS 101 or frequent data entry and data transmission using TIMS.

TIMS Data Management and Transfer

Description
A two-day course for experienced TIMS users. It focuses on all the facets of TIMS surveillance, patient management and program evaluation data entry, management, and analysis. TIMS Surveillance and Program Evaluation data transfer and transmission, with actual transmissions taking place in the classroom. This course will also cover creating full and partial data reset, transfer and acknowledgment reports, and deletion of client records as it relates to transmission. An overview of the entire TIMS surveillance and program evaluation process will also be incorporated within this session.
Target Audience
Personnel responsible for transmission of TIMS data and maintaining data synchronization within the reporting area and between the reporting area and CDC.
Pre-Requisite
TIMS 101 or frequent data entry and data transmission using TIMS

TIMS Data Retrieval & Analysis

Description
A two day course for data managers. It focuses on reports, ad hoc queries, frequency reports and data export. Import of TIMS data into Epi-Info, Access, and other third party software is also demonstrated. This course will also cover the new ad hoc query functionality and customizable export. An overview of the TIMS surveillance process, highlighting data management tips, will also be incorporated within this session.
Target Audience
Personnel responsible for data management and data analysis.
Pre-Requisite
TIMS 101 or basic knowledge of navigation through the TIMS modules and windows.

TIMS Technical Support

Description
A one day course for network administrators and others involved locally in the support of TIMS in a LAN environment. This course will focus on the installation of TIMS, ODBC setup; error message resolutions; optimal tuning of TIMS for improved performance; transaction logging; and database backup and recovery processes. A Novell and a Windows version will be offered.
Target Audience
LAN Administrators, network administrators and others involved locally in the technical support of TIMS.
Pre-Requisite
TIMS 101 or basic knowledge of navigation through the TIMS modules and windows.
