Genoa, 22 July 2001 -Attacking global poverty has been the focus of the G-7/8 Summit and is a priority of U.S. foreign policy. Genoa, 20 July 2001 - The Group of Seven (G-7) major industrialized countries has pledged to launch a new round of multilateral trade negotiations at the World Trade Organization (WTO) ministerial meeting in Doha, Qatar, in November, declaring that sustained economic growth worldwide requires a renewed commitment to free trade.
