Exercising with equipment is one of the most popular sports activities among people 65 and over, with 3.1 million participants. There were 35.9 million people 65 and over in the United States on July 1, 2003. The population of this age group is expected to reach 86.7 million in the year 2050.

The U.S. Census Bureau was the first client to order
a Universal Automatic Computer, and accepted
delivery of the first UNIVAC on March 31, 1951.
Fifty years later, more than 72 million employed
people age 16 and over -- about 54 percent of all
workers -- used a computer on the job.
