Immunization Update 2003 (Web on Demand)

This is a self-study activity based on a live satellite broadcast that occurred on August 21, 2003. Topics include: influenza vaccine, including recommendations for the use of the new live attenuated influenza vaccine; pneumococcal conjugate vaccine; recommendations for the use of new pediatric combination vaccines; an update on the smallpox vaccination program; and an update on global polio eradication. This is a two hour program.
Goal
To improve immunization practices in the United States.
Objectives
After participation in this satellite broadcast, viewers will be able to:
• List two recent immunization recommendations made by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices
• Describe two emerging immunization issues.
View Web on Demand TARGET AUDIENCE: Physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, DoD paraprofessionals, pharmacists, and their colleagues who either give immunizations or set policy for their offices, clinics, communicable disease, or infection control programs. Both private and public health care providers, including pediatricians, family practice specialists, residents, and medical and nursing students.
