Incorporating HIV Prevention into the Medical Care of Persons Living with HIV (CD-ROM)

This self-study course originally aired as a satellite broadcast and webcast on November 13, 2003. This program discusses the rationale for providing HIV prevention in medical care settings and describes the key components of Recommendations for Incorporating HIV Prevention into the Medical Care of persons living with HIV. (CDC/HRSA/NIH/HIVMA of the Infectious Diseases Society of America/IDSA), identify roles and strategies for organizations, individual providers and persons living with AIDS regarding planning and delivering HIV prevention in medical care settings and identify resources and training for implementing the Prevention in Care recommendations.

TARGET AUDIENCE: Persons who administer, deliver or plan the care and treatment of HIV-positive adults and adolescents in public and private healthcare, managed care, and community-based organizations. This audience includes persons and organizations such as clinic directors or executive directors, directors of ambulatory services, physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, case managers, social workers, counselors, peer educators, HIV prevention community-planning groups, Ryan White Care Act Planning Councils, STD treatment and prevention workers, substance abuse treatment and mental health workers.
