Goods on a Census Basis (seasonally adjusted)
Deficit
- The September petroleum deficit ($13.9 billion) was the second highest
on record. The record occurred in August 2004 ($14.4 billion).
Exports
- September exports of $70.2 billion were a record.
- September exports of industrial supplies and materials ($17.5 billion)
were a record.
- September exports of consumer goods ($8.8 billion) were a record.
- September exports of automotive vehicles, parts, and engines ($7.7
billion) were the second highest on record. The record occurred in
August 2004 ($7.8 billion).
Imports
- September imports of non-petroleum products ($109.0 billion) were
a record.
- September imports of automotive vehicles, parts, and engines ($19.4
billion) were a record.
- September imports of capital goods ($29.5 billion) were the highest
since December 2000 ($29.9 billion).
Country and other highlights (Census Basis, not seasonally adjusted)
- The September deficit with China ($15.5 billion) and September imports
from China ($18.4 billion) were records.
- September exports to Hong Kong ($1.4 billion) were a record.
- September imports from South Korea ($4.4 billion) were a record.
- The September import average price per barrel of crude oil ($37.62)
was a record.
