VIOLENT FUGITIVE CAPTURED


Logo for Southeast Regional Fugitive Task ForceA violent fugitive wanted on 27 outstanding state charges for armed robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm, home invasion, kidnapping and entering an auto has been arrested by investigators from the Fulton County Police Department, the Fulton County Sheriffs Office and members of the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force (SERFTF).

Marty BusbyMarty Busby, 19, was being sought on warrants issued in Fulton County, Georgia.  Busby is accused of several home invasions, armed robberies and kidnappings occurring in July and August of 2004.  Busby was located after several months of intensive investigation by SERFTF members and Fulton County.  Busby was located in the Cliffs Apartment Complex on Roswell Rd.  A shotgun was recovered at the time of Busby’s arrest.  Mathis Jones, 22, was also arrested at the scene on forgery charges. 

Busby is currently being held in the Fulton County Jail pending his court proceedings.

Annually investigations carried out by the U.S. Marshals result in the apprehension of approximately 34,000 federal fugitives.  More federal fugitives are arrested by Marshals than all other federal agencies combined.

The Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force (SERFTF) is a team comprised of law enforcement officers from 25 local, state and federal agencies.  The task force’s objective is to seek out and arrest the regions most violent offenders.  Since the inception of the task force in September of 2003, the SERFTF has closed over 2600 felony warrants.
