KIDS.GOV

You can't be with your children every minute while they are surfing the Internet. So, how do you know the sites they are visiting are safe and appropriate?

Luckily, there's a site where your kids can have fun, stay safe, and maybe learn something too-www.kids.gov. Kids.gov is your child's key to all the resources of the federal government-each site is geared to their level and interests. Through kids.gov, children can access a wide variety of government agencies, schools and organizations that cover everything from fighting crime and exploring the world to music and homework help.

Kids.gov organizes over 400 kid-friendly links by topic in one easy-to-find place. Each topic area divides the featured links by whether they are a government agency, school, private or commercial organization. Want more information about plants and animals? Space? The arts? All the resources your child needs are just a click away.

Kids.gov lets kids explore the world from the comfort of their PC. Take a peek at the new baby elephant at the National Zoo through the Zoo's web cams. Learn about an astronaut's spacesuit at NASA's kids' web site. Want to find out more about the FBI? Take its virtual field trip and get the facts on how the FBI uses fingerprints to solve crimes.

And there are other sites to explore. Need to help your child find the answer to that last homework question? Get connected to the government's best research and homework-help sites. Use the Encyclopedia Smithsonian to get answers to questions about Egyptian mummies. Get facts about your state at the U.S. Census Bureau. Find out how to create a graph at the National Center for Education Statistics.

The sky's the limit on what your child can learn and explore at www.kids.gov. And it's fun for adults too. Kids.gov is the children's portal of Firstgov.gov-the free U.S. government portal that connects you to federal, state and local government web sites. So visit today.
