Now you can get on-the-spot answers to your every question about the programs, services, and benefits of the federal government. Just call the Federal Citizen Information Center, formerly known as the Federal Consumer Information Center. The name has changed, but not the great federal information you've always gotten from Pueblo, Colorado.

For the latest and most up-to-date facts just call toll-free 1-800-FED-INFO (that's 1-800-333-4636) Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern Time. You'll reach the one-stop source for information from and about the federal government.

Here are some good reasons you may want to pick up your phone and call:

  • You're planning to visit a couple of national parks on your upcoming vacation. Where can you get details about their facilities? How can you reserve campsites before you go?
  • You're throwing this year's big Fourth of July bash and want a flag for the party. Who do you contact about getting a flag that was flown over the Capitol?
  • Are you looking for a federal job in your area? Where can you find these jobs posted?
  • Who can answer your questions about retirement, and how to get Social Security benefits?
  • How do you get a copyright for a computer program you've created?

These aren't the only reasons to call the Federal Citizen Information Center. Thousands of citizens call each day with every conceivable question about the government. The staff is specially trained and has information on federal agencies, programs, and activities at their fingertips as well as in an up-to-the-minute database. And they can help you find offices and get services from state and local governments as well.
