President Bush to Nominate Boyce to be Ambassador of the United States to the Republic of Indonesia

President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate Ralph Leo Boyce to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Indonesia. A career member of the Senior Foreign Service, he has served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands in the Bureau of East Asia and Pacific Affairs since August 1998. From 1995 to 1998, he held the post of Deputy Chief of Mission in Bangkok, and from 1992 to 1994, he was Deputy Chief of Mission in Singapore. He has served in Washington as Resource Officer, Special Assistant in the Office of the Deputy Secretary and as Special Assistant to the Senior Advisor for Arms Control. His previous overseas assignments include service as Political Officer in Bangkok, Economic Officer in Islamabad, Economic/Commercial Officer in Tunis and International Relations Officer in Tehran. He received his undergraduate degree from George Washington University and Master's degree from Princeton University.
