Professional Development Scholarships

Professional Development Scholarships of $1,000 to $5,000 are now available to individuals and multidisciplinary teams working with crime victims. Applicants from any organization (public, nonprofit, or faith-based) that operate on limited budgets are eligible. The scholarships, which are awarded based on funding availability, may be used toward tuition or registration fees, transportation expenses, lodging, and meals and incidentals at the government rate. Only one scholarship per individual will be awarded in a calendar year and scholarships are nontransferable. Additional limitations may apply. OVC training and technical assistance initiatives include the following:

• OVC Training Calendar, which offers current, action-oriented training about topics relevant to crime victim services. Workshops for 2004 are designed to help service providers build technical skills and enhance their knowledge of victim service issues. Register online.



• State Victim Assistance Academies (SVAAs). Modeled after the National Victim Assistance Academy, SVAAs provide state-specific training in victim issues. TTAC offers information about SVAAs and OVC TTAC can help with establishing them.
