Biographies are available on active-duty and retired general officers, current senior civilians, and all former secretaries of the Air Force and chief master sergeants of the Air Force. Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard general officers are located on different Web sites at http://arpc.afrc.af.mil/pa/biographies.htm and http://www.ngb.army.mil/ngbgomo/library/bio_map.asp. If a biography is not listed, a biography is not available. Many former officers elected not to have an official biography or they retired as Reserve officers instead of from active duty. At this time, AFRC does not have their older retired officers on their Web site. Retired general officer biographies are "frozen in time" and are not updated to reflect current status. They are the last official approved biography from the general officer and cannot be changed without official documentation. Go to the Air Force Link History section for biographical sketches of people who had a significant influence on the heritage of the Air Force.
Air Force fact sheets are available on current operational systems only. Those systems being developed, tested, evaluated or retired do not have an official fact sheet. For a listing of aircraft, weapon systems, special topics and organizations, click on Air Force Fact Sheets.
The Air Force History Support Office is a part of the Air Force History and Museums Program and is located in Washington, D.C. AFHSO historians provide historical information and analysis to our nation’s leaders, as well as authors who document the Air Force's activities and history. The office also provides limited reference services to authorized individuals doing historical research on the Air Force. AFHSO’s Reference and Analysis Division provides historical information, analysis and perspective to Air Force leaders and their staffs to support planning, policy development and decision making. It also responds to requests for information about the Air Force’s history from private organizations, government agencies and the general public. The Publications Division produces books, monographs, studies and reports to preserve the history of the U.S. Air Force. Many of these are available for purchase through the Government Printing Office. The Outreach Division provides materials to publicize the history and accomplishments of the Air Force, and represents the Air Force History and Museums program with exhibits at many international air shows each year. AFHSO works in conjunction with the Air Force Historical Research Agency (AFHRA) at Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala. Visit the Air Force History Support Office web site.

The function of USAF Public Inquiries is to help the public obtain answers to general, unclassified questions about the Air Force. As a rule, all available, unclassified, public information about the Air Force can be found on Air Force Link or through internet searches of other Air Force sites. Before sending e-mail to Public Inquiries, Air Force Link users should first review the organization information sections above connected with each e-mail address above. This will help senders route questions to the correct agency and get a timely response. Regrettably, because of inquiry volume, not all inquiries receive responses. This policy includes misrouted e-mail. We appreciate your support!
