U.S.
Commercial Service
The function of the U.S. Commercial Service is to assist U.S. companies
in their export development efforts overseas. In particular, the office
performs standard services for American firms, such as identifying
potential Korean agents or distributors, responding to numerous U.S.
business inquiries about the market, and setting up business appointments
for U.S. firms. They also prepare short market insight reports and
more in-depth market research that is disseminated through the Internet.
The Commercial Service's trade promotion program consists of organizing
U.S. Pavilions at locally-held trade shows every year, targeting such
"best prospect" export sectors as information technology,
environment, energy development, tourism, and education. They also
cooperate extensively with U.S. city and state governments to host
trade missions, and organize "buying missions" composed
of Korean business people to attend major trade shows in the U.S.
The Commercial Service operates the U.S. Business Center to assist
U.S. firms and a U.S. Business Information Center dedicated to helping
Korean firms identify supply sources in the U.S. For more information
on U.S. Commercial Service Korea, visit their website at www.cskorea-doc.gov.
