The Open Forum was established by Secretary of State Dean Rusk in 1967 during intense policy discussions concerning U.S. involvement in the Vietnam Conflict. Its primary goal is to explore new and alternative views on vital issues of the day. Since its inception, the Open Forum has been--and continues to be--instrumental in promoting a constructive dialogue among senior policymakers and the U.S. foreign affairs community at large.
Make available to the public Department of State records which have been declassified and released under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) or another information access program administered by the Office of IRM Programs and Services.
Published monthly by the Department to facilitate communication between management and employees at home and abroad and to acquaint employees with developments that may affect operations or personnel.
The United States Department of State Dispatch provides key speeches and testimonies by the Secretary of State and other senior officials and current U.S. treaty actions and ambassadorial appointments. It is published 10-12 times a year by the Office of Public Communication.
This Day in Diplomacy highlights important events in the history of American Diplomacy, and the Foreign Relations of the United States is a historical record of American foreign policy produced by the State Department's Office of the Historian.

The Diplomatic Reception Rooms of the Department of State are used for official functions hosted by the Secretary of State and other high level government officials. These rooms hold a premier collection of 18th Century American Furniture, paintings and decorative arts.
The Art in Embassies Program (AIEP) of the U.S. Department of State was created in 1964 to showcase original artwork by U.S. artists in the residences of United States Ambassadors worldwide, including the New York residence of the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. These residences serve as the centers for official state functions, and the exhibited artworks are part of the Ambassador's mission at Post. AIEP also provides artwork for the residences of principal representatives to United Nations and economic agencies abroad.
