Welcome to the Family Liaison Office (FLO) web site. If you are a Foreign Service employee or family member, we encourage you to explore the information in our web site and contact us directly if you need additional help. If you are a private citizen, we hope exploring our web site will give you a clearer idea of the complexities of the Foreign Service lifestyle and the difficulties our families face due to frequent moves to new cultures.
FLO's mission is to improve the quality of life for Foreign Service families serving abroad by identifying issues, advocating for solutions, providing client services, and managing the worldwide Community Liaison Office program. Our major areas of interest are Education and Youth, Family Member Employment, and Support Services for those experiencing a personal or post crisis. We deliver services in these areas through individual counseling, training and presentations, publications, and the CLO program.
FLO's Publications program offers 36 papers and books that specifically address the issues created by being a U.S. government employee or family member assigned to a diplomatic mission abroad. For people who need additional assistance, FLO's Employment Coordinator, Employment Specialist, Education and Youth Officer, and Program Assistant provide information, counseling, and referral during transitions to and from an overseas assignment. The Support Services Officer helps with contingency planning and emergency operations for personal and community crisis. The CLO program provides direct support to personnel at embassies and consulates that have Community Liaison Offices.

This material is specific to Foreign Service employees and their families.
