USGS 03198000 KANAWHA RIVER AT CHARLESTON, WV

PROVISIONAL DATA SUBJECT TO REVISION

PLEASE NOTE: Provisional streamflow data reported for Kanawha River at Charleston below 10,000 ft3/s are suspect. River slope is a factor used in the streamflow computations. River slope diminishes as flow decreases and becomes difficult to measure accurately below 10,000 ft3/s. The method currently in use by USGS for compilation of historical daily-flow records below 10,000 ft3/s is summation of streamflow at 03193000 Kanawha River at Kanawha Falls, plus 03197000 Elk River at Queen Shoals, plus 1.08 times the streamflow at 03200500 Coal River at Tornado.
