 STREAMS TRIBUTARY TO LAKE SUPERIOR
 04041500  STURGEON RIVER NEAR ALSTON, MI

 LOCATION.--Lat 46°43'35", long 88°39'43", in SE1/4 sec.15, T.50 N.,
 R.35 W., Baraga County, Hydrologic Unit 04020104, on right bank in
 powerhouse of Upper Peninsula Power Co. at Prickett Dam, 4.0 mi
 upstream from Clear Creek, 5.0 mi southeast of Alston, and at mile 45.

 DRAINAGE AREA.--346 mi2.

 PERIOD OF RECORD.--February 1932 to June 1941, October 1942 to current year.

 GAGE.--Water-stage recorder.  Datum of gage is 709.64 ft above sea
 level.  Prior to Jan. 5, 1948, nonrecording gage, and Jan. 5, 1948, to
 Sept. 30, 1963, water-stage recorder at same site at datum 39.34 ft lower.

 Station operated in cooperation with the Upper Peninsula Power Company.
