STATION.--14316700 STEAMBOAT CREEK NEAR GLIDE, OR
LOCATION.--Lat 43° 21'00", long 122° 43'40", in N 1/2 sec.32, T.25-1/2 S., R.1 E., Douglas
County, Hydrologic Unit 17100301, in Umpqua National Forest, on right bank in Canton Creek
Forest Service Park, 200 ft downstream from Canton Creek, 19 mi northeast of Glide, and at
mile 0.5.
DRAINAGE AREA.--227 mi2.
PERIOD OF RECORD.--Annual maximum, water year 1956, June 1956 to current year.
GAGE.--Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 1,128.55 ft above NGVD of 1929 (levels by Federal
Highway Administration). October 1955 to June 1956, nonrecording gage at site 100 ft
upstream at same datum.
REMARKS.--No regulation or diversion upstream from station. Several measurements of
water temperature were made during the year. National Weather Service satellite
telemeter at station.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD.--Maximum discharge, 51,000 ft3/s Dec. 22, 1964, gage height,
25.6 ft, from floodmark, from rating curve extended above 13,000 ft3/s on basis of
slope-area measurement at 17.96 ft; minimum discharge, 25 ft3/s Sept. 24, 2001.
