You are cordially invited…
to participate in the 19th International
Technical Conference on the Enhanced Safety of Vehicles Conference
(ESV) in Washington, D.C. the Nation's capital in June 2005. From
its celebrated symbols of patriotism to its undiscovered neighborhoods,
the sites and sounds of the Nation's capital inspire visitors each
year from the world over. Rich in local history and an international
metropolis with exciting diversity, Washington is more than just
the political capital of the United States, it is also the home
of the Smithsonian Institution and as such is the cultural focus
of America. Its many superb museums and galleries have something
to offer everyone. Also unique to Washington are its monuments and
memorials. The distinguished Washington Monument, honoring the first
US president, dominates the city skyline. The US Capitol is one
of the world's largely recognized symbols of democracy. The Lincoln
Memorial never fails to inspire and the Jefferson Memorial, along
the Tidal Basin, is the location of one of the most photographed
scenes in Washington. In early spring, the annual blooming of hundreds
of cherry trees - a gift in the 1920's from the Japanese government
- is a spectacular site to behold. And of course, the President's
official residence, the White House, attracting millions of visitors
every year. The 19th ESV Conference delegates look forward to your
participation in the world's foremost international forum for motor
vehicle safety research, and invite you to enjoy the benefits of
visiting a city rich in culture and history.
