The Denver Regional Office (Region VIII) of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is composed of the states of Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming. It is located in downtown Denver in the Colorado State Bank Building near Civic Center Park.

The Office is conveniently situated close to the 16th Street Mall, truly the heart of Denver. The Mall is a tree-lined pedestrian promenade which runs through the center of the downtown shopping district with shuttle buses offering free transportation. Parking is available in the area, and the Office is close to public transportation (RTD bus and light-rail system), and many other amenities such as restaurants, take-out facilities, etc.

The six states comprising the Region encompass 573,297 square miles, or about one-sixth of the U.S. land mass. The total 2000 population of the Region is 9,327,451, or approximately 3.2% of the total U.S. population. Geographically, Region VIII is one of the largest of the nation's 10 CMS Federal regions. The region extends 920 miles from north to south and 960 miles east to west.

Access to affordable and quality health care services; protection of the rights and dignity of beneficiaries; and provision of clear and useful information to beneficiaries and providers to assist them in making health care decisions.
