To designate the visitors' center at Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, Arizona, as the `Kris Eggle Visitors' Center'.
IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES

Mr. MCCAIN introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources
A BILL
To designate the visitors' center at Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, Arizona, as the `Kris Eggle Visitors' Center'.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. DESIGNATION OF KRIS EGGLE VISITORS' CENTER.
(a) FINDING- Congress finds that in August 2002, Kris Eggle, a 28-year-old park ranger at Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument in the State of Arizona (referred to in this section as the `Monument'), was killed in the line of duty along the international border between the United States and Mexico.
(b) DEDICATION- Congress dedicates the visitors' center at the Monument to--
(2) promoting awareness of the risks taken each day by public land management law enforcement officers.
(c) REDESIGNATION- The visitors' center at the Monument shall be known and designated as the `Kris Eggle Visitors' Center'.
(d) REFERENCES- Any reference in any law, map, regulation, document, paper, or other record of the United States to the visitors' center referred to in subsection (c) shall be deemed to be a reference to the `Kris Eggle Visitors' Center'.
(e) SIGNAGE- The Secretary of the Interior shall post interpretive signs at the visitors' center and at the trailhead of the Baker Mine-Milton Mine Loop that--
(1) describe the important role of public law enforcement officers in protecting visitors to units of the National Park System;
(2) refer to the tragic loss of Kris Eggle to underscore the importance of the officers;
(3) refer to the dedication of the trail and the visitors' center by Congress; and
(A) a copy of this Act; and
(B) an image of Kris Eggle.
(f) AUTHORIZATION OF APPROPRIATIONS- There are authorized to be appropriated such sums as are necessary to carry out this Act.
