Volunteers are needed to assist the Palominas Area BLM along with the Polominas Firewise Community, Palominas Community Alliance, Palominas Fire Department, and the Boy Scouts of America to create a firebreak, restore native vegetation and to pretreat cottonwoods to protect them from prescribed fire in the San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area. Volunteers are needed to assist the Friends of the Mystic River cleanup the shorelines of along the Mystic River. Rakes, bags, gloves, and pokers will be supplied, or bring your own. Refreshments will be provided. Directions: meet at the parking lot off Route 16 (Mystic Valley Parkway), where the parkway crosses the Mystic River, near the Condon band shell in Medford. We would love to see new faces from the community. Lunch will be provided to all volunteers who participate, courtesy of the Friends of Lake Louisa State Park. |
