Overview

Public Health Surveillance has been defined as the ongoing, systematic collection, analysis, and interpretation of data (e.g., regarding agent/hazard, risk factor, exposure, health event) essential to the planning, implementation, and evaluation of public health practice, closely integrated with the timely dissemination of these data to those responsible for prevention and control. The slides associated with this web site were created by Denise Koo, MD, MPH and are being made available as a Microsoft Power Point Presentation to the public in order to promote a better understanding of public health surveillance.
