The Chairman of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee praised a new
Executive Order issued by President Bush last week that for the first
time requires federal agencies to pro-actively help small businesses
owned by disabled veterans.

Passes New Legislation to Improve Veterans Access to Quality VA Health
Care

The House of Representatives has approved two new bills to improve the
quality and timeliness of VA medical care services. H.R. 4231, the
Veterans Affairs Nurse Recruitment and Retention Act of 2004, would
establish new and enhance existing VA programs designed to improve the
recruitment and retention of nurses.

War II Memorial Dedicated
Ceremony Paid
Tribute to WWII Veterans
A new national memorial honoring
all 16 million Americans who served in World War II was dedicated on
Saturday, May 29, during Memorial Day weekend in Washington, DC. The
WWII Memorial was authorized by Congress in 1993, to be established by the
American Battle Monuments Commission, and
is funded almost entirely by private contributions.
