The Library of Congress is providing access to these materials for educational and research purposes. The written permission of the copyright owners and/or other rights holders (such as publicity and/or privacy rights) is required for distribution, reproduction, or other use of protected items beyond that allowed by fair use or other statutory exemptions. Responsibility for making and independent legal assessment of an item and securing any necessary permissions ultimately rests with persons desiring to use the item.
While the Library is not aware of any U.S. copyright protection (see Title 17, U.S.C.) or any other restrictions in the materials in the Horydczak Collection, some content may be protected by U.S. copyright (Title 17, U.S.C.), various state laws, and/or by the copyright or neighboring-rights laws of other nations. Some photographs may have been produced as "works for hire" and copyright may be held by the party that commissioned the original photograph. Whenever Horydczak's logbooks identified the client for a photograph and when this identification was legible, the client name has been included in the bibliographic record for the items. If no client name is found, this means that the Prints and Photographs Division has no additional information pertinent to that item.
The Library is anxious to hear from individuals or institutions that own the original photographs or know of their history.
