Mission Statement

Welcome to the Healthy Parenting Initiative, providing resources for parents and professionals dealing with the unique challenges of balancing family and military life while serving on active duty in the United States Armed Forces.

The Military, working in conjunction with parenting experts, has created a wide variety of materials in these three areas:

Healthy Parenting Tool Kit ("Step into your Child's World"), developed by the University of Missouri and Lincoln University, provides resources on:

Parent Teen Resources ("Stay Connected"), developed by Auburn University, provides resources on:

Command Briefing Resources (Force Readiness requires Family Readiness) Developed by Cornell University, provides commanders with research-based materials and guidance from experienced commanders on the Commander's role in:

  • Supporting families for enhanced retention and mission readiness, and

  • Promoting family readiness for deployments

The Healthy Parenting Initiative was developed by the University of Missouri and Lincoln University, Auburn University, and Cornell University in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, under USDA Agreement No. 99-EXACA3-0823
